International Market Place |

The Queen’s historical influence and spirit is obvious when you browse the International Market Place. As you walk among the shops and stands, you come across Ohana Quilts (“ohana” means “family” in Hawaiian) and Kamehameha Candle (candles created with tropical scents, such as plumeria and pineapple). The Japanese influence is huge in Hawaii, so you will also find several stores carrying small toys and gifts, imported from Japan.
All this shopping can make you hungry, so of course, be sure you hit some of the food stands here. You won’t see high-end restaurants, but you will get a true taste of authentic, Hawaiian street food, such as fresh fish, simply broiled and paired, bento-style, with rice and sides. There’s also Korean BBQ or noodles - udon, ramen, and more, on the go! Make it a point to try a range of Asian food, as Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Filipino and Vietnamese cultures are right at home in Hawaii. Pretty much everything you try will be yummy and help you recharge for more shopping!
You can also go to the International Market Place for a street show. There are regular musical and cultural performances here – all free.
