Charlotte Ronson

Charlotte Ronson, one of MyCloset.com’s favorite interviews, was born in London, England to an artistic family. Around the age of five Charlotte and her family relocated to New York City, where she began to develop her own unique style. After graduating from NYU, she started making customized tees and tanks for herself and when friends requested their own pieces, Ronson was only happy to oblige. In 2000, the label ‘C.Ronson’ was established with a collection of 70s inspired cotton tees and wedge heels. Her designs garnered instant attention from publications like Vogue, Elle, Women’s Wear Daily and the NY Times. She also became an immediate hit with celebrities Winona Ryder, Kate Moss, Gisele Bunchen and Gwen Stefani to name a few.

In May of 2002 Charlotte Ronson opened her flagship boutique in NYC’s trendy Nolita neighborhood. A few years later, in 2005, she partnered with ‘Sanei International’, a Japanese apparel giant and together they expanded into the Asian and US markets, with the ‘C.Ronson’ label quickly being renamed to ‘Charlotte Ronson’.

In 2007 Ronson collaborated with both family and friends Nicole Richie, Lily Allen and Lindsey Lohan to produce a limited edition t-shirt collection and a “must have” line of handbags. The next year, in 2008, Charlotte Ronson teamed with ‘Urban Outfitters’ and ‘J.C. Penney’ to introduce the lines, ‘Play by C.Ronson’ and ‘I [Heart] Ronson’ respectively. Then in early 2009, Ronson made her UK debut in the department store Harrods with her spring/summer collection of eighties influences mixed with rocker chic looks. She also unveiled her new beachwear collection, ‘Made with Love’; a collaborative effort with friend and fellow designer, Shoshanna Lonstein-Gruss.

Life Facts:
The ‘Charlotte Ronson’ label produces both a full clothing line and accessories line that can be found at high end boutiques and department stores. Since Ronson’s debut she has packed the house at each runway show during NY Fashion Week. Ronson is currently the face of Sebastian Professions Hair Care.
