EMERGING DESIGNER |
Veronica Wong |
Sugar Blush Jewelry is a young up and coming company created by Veronica Wong after creating her own jewelry for years while in college. Classmates and friends of Veronica's were marveled by her craftsmanship and often asked her for custom made pieces. Veronica then began building a small but dedicated following. In her hometown of Guayaquil, Ecuador Veronica was the jewelry queen.
Presently, all of Veronica’s one-of-a-kind pieces are being sold throughout Houston, Texas in several trunk shows and her own web site. Presently, her studio is in Houston, Texas, where she resides full time. She is proud to have started a new business and a new family with her husband Daniel. Veronica still visits Ecuador frequently where she finds inspiration, visits family, and acquires new and interesting raw materials.
MyCloset.com is confident that Veronica will continue to shine and produce fresh and chic pieces of unique jewelry!

Veronica Wong on Fashion
What has been your biggest fashion faux-pas?
I think abiding by all those silly rules about not wearing blue and black or black and brown. If you like it you should wear it!
If you could only shop at one store, which would it be?
Hmmmmmm, I think I would have to say Anthropologie, I could live in that store, they have amazing clothes, accessories for the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and every amazing book you can imagine! The whole style of the store is so chic!
If you could change one thing about your closet, what would it be?
I think I would put more shelves in it to separate all of my purses, I would also build in a vanity with a huge mirror. I hate sharing the bathroom with my husband whenever we need to get ready for an event!
Survival of the fittest: What is one item in your closet that you will never get rid of?
My first pair of Ferragamo shoes, I still use them after 6 years! They are black velvet sandals with 3.5” heel with a gold Ferragamo insignia with tiny crystals in it, they will never go out of style!
If you were given the opportunity to have a famous designer revamp your entire wardrobe, who would you choose?
I think I would have to say Carolina Herrera, she is so classic and feminine, I just LOVE her.
Name an actor/singer/celebrity whose wardrobe you admire the most.
Audrey Hepburn, she was so elegant, the perfect example of less is more!
What are your best and worst fashion purchases?
Best purchase: my first Furla croc embossed oversized black bag! I used it every day for a whole year and I still get compliments when I wear it.
Worst purchase: a pair of cheap patent leather shoes that looked amazing on the shelves but destroyed my poor feet after 30 minutes of having them on.
Who makes your favorite pair of jeans? Shoes? Dress or Suit?
Favorite jeans: Joes
Shoes: Nine West, affordable, cute and comfortable!
Dress: Marchessa, you can never go wrong!
If you had to describe your personal style in one word, what would it be?
Classic
If you could bring back any fashion trend, what would it be?
Jackie O love for hats and gloves and ball gowns, so elegant!
What was your fashion style as a teen?
I have always been very classic, my typical pieces in my closet were black mini skirts, patent leather pumps, boot cut jeans, and lots and lots of knit tops.
What are some of your favorite raw materials that you get from Ecuador to make your jewelry and accessories?
First of all coral, mother of pearl and spondilus are amazing! I love working with material that can be used in their natural state. They go perfect with any other semi precious stones you want, they just look great and never go out of style!
Another material I have been exploring is called tagua, a very light seed that can be died and carved, if it was not because of it's small size it would be my all time favorite, but I am still oooking forward on working with it...
