LATE SEVENTIES, EARLY EIGHTIES, PUNK, NEW WAVE. SKIN TIGHT JEANS, LEATHER JACKET. ACTUALLY I DON’T WEAR LEATHER APART FROM SHOES GIVEN AS GIFTS. I’M VEGAN. BUT IF THE SHOES WERE GIVEN TO ME, IT’S ALREADY DONE, CREATED. THERE AREN’T GREAT MEN’S VEGAN SHOES. I HAD A PAIR THAT I THREW OUT FROM MOO. I HATED THEM.

MyCloset.com: So if we plucked you into the Seventies what would you wear to replace the requisite leather jacket?

GK: A BLACK BUBBLE PARKA.

MyCloset.com: What do you hate about your closet?

GK: I SHOULD GET RID OF THE WIRE HANGERS. I WANT TO GO WITH ALL WHITE PLASTIC ONES.

MyCloset.com: What do you love about your closet?

GK: I KEEP EVERYTHING COMPACT. THE SIZE OF IT HELPS. I GET RID OF THINGS ONCE A YEAR, IF I HAVEN’T WORN SOMETHING. I JUST WENT TO THE SHELTER ON BOWERY. GOT RID OF SIX BAGS.

MyCloset.com: The pink floral print shirt doesn’t seem to fit you!

GK: IT’S MARK JACOBS. WHEN I FIRST SAW IT, I WANTED TO BUY IT BUT DIDN’T. THEN I GOT IT AS A COLLEGE GRADUATION PRESENT. I WORE IT MAYBE TWICE.

MyCloset.com: Madonna deejayed with you. Did she influence your style at all?

GK: SHE DOESN’T REALLY TALK. THE BURBERRY PRORSUM GLITTER STRIPED TOP CAME FROM THE OLD PR GUY THERE. HE WAS A FRIEND OF MADONNA’S, SO HE SENT OVER SOME STUFF FOR WHEN SHE SPUN. WE GOT TO KEEP THEM.

MyCloset.com: If your apartment were burning down, what is the one thing you would run to save from your closet?

GK: I HAVE A SWEATER THAT WAS COURTNEY LOVE’S. MY OLD ROOMMATE USED TO WORK WITH HER. IT SMELLS LIKE OLD ROCKER MUSK. SHE LEFT IT IN A CAB WITH HIM AND HE TOOK IT THREE YEARS AGO. THAT WAS WHEN SHE WAS DOING DRUGS, JUST HER AND A MATTRESS AND THREW HERSELF OUT A WINDOW.

GK: I THINK SHE’S TOO GONE…
