Primetime Emmy's: TV's Biggest Night is Back!

The Primetime Emmy’s have come and gone so all we have left to hold us over till the next red carpet is to immerse ourselves in some truly glamourous looks. The stars of TV have been stepping up their game the past few years. Sure red carpet staples will always reoccur but more and more of our faves are taking some chances and for that we applaud.

With bright colors a major trend it’s no wonder we saw so many on the red or rather gold carpet. Bright yellow was the stand out color of the evening with hot pink close behind. Emmy winner Regina King, Judith Light, Tatiana Maslany, Gwendoline Christie, Abbi Jacobson, Adina Porter and Alison Brie all rocked yellow. While Tracee Ellis Ross, Emmy winner Thandie Newton, Leslie Jones and Yara Shahidi went with varying shades of pink. Alexis Bledel sported a pink gown with yellow accents, a truly stylish combo. Then there was Emmy winner Tiffany Haddish who took the bright color trend to new heights donning a gorgeous red, blue, green and yellow striped gown inspired by the Eritrean flag, choosing to once again honor her father on the red carpet. A few jewel toned gowns stood out from the see of neon while black, metallic and white gowns made a very good showing.

As is the norm, we saw lots beaded and sequined embellishments with some feathers and floral patterns mixed in. Most ladies went for your classic full skirt or column gowns while a handful picked jumpsuits and suits.

The men were no slouches this year with some breaking from the black or navy mold. The white jacket and black trousers look was a favorite. While a few went for a patterned suit or colorful jacket and one man stood out from the crowd in a baby blue tux, we’re looking at you Emmy winner John Mulaney.

It was a night of elegant, stylish and fun looks with our faves from the small screen shining bright but the biggest star of the evening was designer Christian Siriano, who designed for 7 women; Leslie Jones, Tatiana Maslany, Judith Light, Ann Dowd, Britany Young, Angela Sarafyan and Regina King.

Animal Chic

Animal prints have transformed over the years. Let's check it out...

We’ve seen animal prints pop in and out of stores, on the runways and even our own closets throughout the ages. But this fall, it is one of the major fashion trends. Designers like Alice + Olivia, Balenciaga, Givenchy, Max Mara, Michael Kors and Victoria Beckham to name a few, tried their hand at an old classic and gave it modern, stylish and possibly chic twists. Firstly, changing up animal shapes then printing them in pinks, yellows, reds, blues and greens is a fashionable update to a stale and sometimes tacky look. Thirdly, one can now choose a flowy dress, blouse, coat or even a full suit in allover animal prints.

Not only can we choose form Leopard, tiger, cheetah, zebra, cow and giraffe prints but a style is forming. Check out Zendaya, Danai Gurira, Chrissy Metz, Ruth Negga and Emmy Rossum sporting butterflies, peacocks, snakes, cats and birds on their outfits. Let’s hope those patterns and embellishments catch on, it’s a fun addition to the animal print and one we should all add to our closets!

Orange really is the New Black

Orange may not be the "it" color of the year but we've seen it in stores, on the runway and red carpets all year.

Orange has been seen on red carpets, runways and in everyday attire since spring. Celebrities and fashionistas alike have taken to the shade in all its forms. While the hue is usually associated with fall and more specifically Halloween, orange has been branching out and we at MyCloset love it. Just take a look at some of your favorite ladies and a couple of men sporting the color in all is glorious shades. Shades like terracotta, cayenne, persimmon, pumpkin, mango, salmon, melon, burnt orange, ochre, amber, tangerine, tiger, carrot and apricot.

Ever wonder what came first, the chicken or the egg? Or rather in this case, the color or the fruit? Well, it was in fact the fruit.
