DESIGNER'S DOORWAY

Anait Bian

What's Under Anait Bian's skirt!!

Actor Matthew Modine watched designer Anait Bian’s baby doll dress at a Boston film premiere of “Kettle of Fish.” Eyeing her, he joked, “I hope it’s windy.” She told him, “Even if it’s windy, you won’t get lucky. I’ve got pantaloons under this!”

Designer Anait Bian lives like a social butterfly, turning up at Parisian parties and East Coast charity cocktails. It’s no wonder that her clothes reflect eclectic influence – her early loves of Yamamoto, Comme des Garcons—to classic shapes, jackets, skirts, and yes, pantaloons -- with an architectural kick.
The Armenian born couturier oversees an atelier on the Upper East Side, where she custom dresses socialites like Olivia Palermo and Lydia Hearst. She has recently coordinated with stylist Robert Verdi, who has ordered a chiffon dress—a dreamy bubble of aqua -- for actress Eva Longoria.
My grandmother was very creative...She taught me to knit and crochet. I made amazing spreads for coffee tables, tops. Look at the crochet flowers on some of my dresses.
