How long have you been collecting these items?

I have been collecting these for at least 10 or more years.

Give us a little background on your collection

My collection consists of mostly Native American style chokers. Some are authentic and some are replicas using unnatural materials. The rest of my collection are interesting pieces made of silver and unique stones.

How did you develop an interest in this particular collection?

My late Grandmother was half Cherokee and many years ago I had the pleasure of visiting an Native American Reservation. As soon as I saw one of the buffalo bone chokers up close, I fell in love them at first sight!

What approach did you take in starting this particular collection?

I just started purchasing unique jewelry whenever and wherever I found them. I would look in thrift stores and relatives' jewelry boxes. One of my best finds came from my mother's jewelry box. I remember as a child playing with it. It is a silver and jade Mexican necklace. It is one of my favorites.

What are your favorite specialty items in your collection?

My favorites are definitely the authentic chokers made from buffalo bones. I am actually now looking for one that has feathers hanging from the disc in the middle.

What other collections or hobbies do you have?

I also collect shot glasses from all over and I am starting a collection of masks from all over the world. So far I have some from Africa and Asia.
